The original Bugaboo pushchair, the Frog, is no longer being manufactured, replaced by the Cameleon and the Bee. The other early model, the Gecko has also stopped production. You can still pick up a Frog or a Gecko second hand from a site like Ebay but do bear in mind that in some cases the guarantee will no longer be valid, if you are not the original owner.

The Frog was the original Bugaboo pushchair, a ground-breaking design, the Frog made a refreshing change from the bland and generic! The Bugaboo Frog brought fun to infant transportation, with a selection of vivid, daring and funky seat covers at the same time as offering a secure and comfy ride.

Much like the current Bugaboo designs the Frog offered a versatile travel solution – a 3 in 1 pushchair with forward and rearward seat positions and a separate carrycot unit. Making the Frog a perfect choice from newborn to toddler.

With an aluminium chassis the Frog was both light and manoeuvrable and sturdy and hardwearing. The inspiration behind the design was apparently a frog and the suspension of the pushchair aimed to emulate the movement of a frog’s leg,

Bugaboo Gecko

The Bugaboo Gecko Pushchair

Just like the Bugaboo Frog, the light and minimalist chassis of the Gecko makes it a delight to navigate through town and countryside alike. The Gecko was designed to be a more compact sibling to the Cameleon, the perfect solution when space is tight.

The Gecko comes in red, black and green, so there is less scope to personalise your pushchair, but still a good range of bright and bold colours. And you still get the great flexibility of a 3 in 1 pram / pushchair, including a separate carrycot unit. Not only this, but with a set of adaptors the Gecko can be transformed into a travel system, using a Maxi Cosi infant carrier.

Staying true to the Bugaboo hallmark, the Gecko is hardwearing, secure and snug and equally as stylish as the Cameleon.
